What aspects of village life do you find most enriching or meaningful?
The clean air, the sea and nature in general are the elements that I consider most important for a place.
I also like that our place has been chosen by foreigners, Europeans, as a permanent residence. Some of them have created a walking group and take walks in the area, getting to know it better. Perhaps it would be good to create a similar action for visitors who stay for less time.
Do you have recommendations for visitors to truly experience the authentic charm of our village?
A very nice experiential experience is the relaxation offered by a bath. Inside the castle there are two Ottoman baths, small but in good condition, waiting to be restored. It is wishful thinking for them to operate again, but a bathhouse in Methoni could connect the present with the past and offer moments of relaxation and well-being to visitors.
Can you share a special memory or story that reflects the unique character of our community?
I can't remember anything special, perhaps because there are too many memories. Perhaps I could mention the passion with which the custom of "Koutroulis' wedding" is maintained.
If you could turn back time, would you do anything differently in your life?
"For my personal life, if I could go back in time, I would make better professional choices. But I wouldn't change Methoni. For me, it's paradise, as I've said before."
