What aspects of village life do you find most enriching or meaningful?
During my childhood.. the gatherings with older people in the village cafes!! We always had something to learn about the history of our city but also about life in general! Especially about the situation in 1940, about poverty but at the same time the love between people, about being abroad and many more since the older ones had solid experiences that for us were books of life etc.
Do you have recommendations for visitors to truly experience the authentic charm of our village?
To walk the hidden neighborhoods. To get to know its people as well as to drink an ouzo with the locals at the "Stachta" cafe etc.
Can you share a special memory or story that reflects the unique character of our community?
I remember the autumn season and the first days when the trawlers were catching the maridaki!!! Unique memory!! The whole village on the beach waiting for the boats!! And us kids, on the pier, catching a kilo of zela each (zeala - an endangered species unfortunately). When the boats arrived, everyone stood in line and helped unload the crates and at the end, inside the newspaper, we also got our snack!! Where are the years..
If you could turn back time, would you do anything differently in your life?
I am complete as I am!!
